Scrolly-telling

Story telling through scrolling – examples:

New York Times was probably the first group to showcase the scrolling storytelling effect. I found one that resonates with this project. It is about a lake in Bolivia that has dried up due to a combination of misuse and climate change, affecting the livelihoods of the people who have used it for years. Here’s the link, but you may need a subscription to NYT to view it.

If you can’t see the page in action, I made a screen recording as I scrolled down the page. You will get a rough idea of the experience, though not as good.

The Russia Left Behind (New York Times)

This uses a variety of dimensions as you scroll – map/timeline in the sidebar, photos galleries, and videos in context.
